Are you planning to put that artwork on it, or have just discs? Either works, I'm just curious.
With regard to bonus stuff, the acoustic version of Waiting For You makes sense, and I think including the live version of Valiant Mistake could work too. Good song, not already on the album...
Hmmm, thought I replied to this, but it must have been in that dream I had, because shortly afterwords I was fighting zombies with a baguette.
I would love to have the artwork, but if we're going to include it all in a proper case, we'd have to sell the Cd's for a couple of quid then really; we'll already be a loss printing just the front cover and back cover (track list) and putting it in one of those bendy cases. We're also going to have printed disks...I hope.
We don't currently have a live version of Valiant Mistake that actually features Steve. Perhaps one day I can convince Tony that the song is good, and we'll play it at a gig and get a good quality version of it then, but I don't know. I still want to studio that song though some time. I think the acoustic waiting for you will definitely go on there, though, along with the demo of "
Free Your Heart" we recorded that we deemed not album-ready yet.

Firstly, it's good to hear the bass higher in the mix. It adds a fuller texture to the sound and makes the songs sound more complete. There also seems to be an added thickness to the rhythm guitar a lot of the time, which is good too. There's on occasion I'd say this is slightly too much the case, though, and that's Don't Carry. I think for such a riff-driven song the bass is a bit too high in the mix and overshadows the guitar too much, just in this one case. That might just be me though.
Also, I approve of the clarity of the vocals, particularly the backing vocals. In some songs you harmonise really well (I'm thinking mainly of Lighthouse) and being able to hear the backing more clearly is definitely an improvement.
That's not everything, but right now I've forgotten the rest. It'll probably come back to me next time I put the album on. This weekend I've woken up every morning with The Malevolent Campaign in my head, heh.
For the vocals, I would like to thank a little program called Melodyne. It truely did save on having to re-record all the vocals until we were in tune. True, it probably took more time over-all using Melodyne to get the out-of-tune bits into tune again, but it was time spent OUT of the studio, not in.
Being on a limitation of two days for all the recording meant we didn't have time for the little touch-ups really!
Hmmm; I hadn't noticed the Bass being too high in Don't Carry, but I'll certainly give it another listen to see if notice it. I'll also try hiding the bass and playing the chorus to see the difference.
I certainly look forward to more comments from Alan, our number one fan!

P.S: What do you think of
After All This Time? For some reason, I had visions of it being your favourite - don't know why!
